My wife and I spent a week on little cabin island June 2nd to June 6. our stay was amazing. The cabin was perfect, swimming was awesome. Kent was very attentive to our needs, he brought us firewood, and even made a special trip to bring us a bag that we forgot in our car. This trip was our honeymoon, and we could not have been more pleased with our stay on the island. We give it 5 stars, and special thanks to the Ackley's.
We love this place. This was our second visit - and just like the first time, the tranquility and beauty made for a relaxing and rejuvenating quick vacation. Joanne and Kent are great hosts - ready to take care of anything you need. This time we ran the wood stove the first night and went through the wood. A quick text to Kent and just like that more firewood was delivered. This won't be our last visit - that's for sure. - Dan and Tara
What an incredible oasis! We stayed on the little island which was wonderful and private. The loons were vocal, a bald eagle visited us in the morning. Quite magical. The wind was pretty fierce for most of our stay and while the cabin wasn't drafty, the little woodstove needed to be going full tilt to keep us warm. Surprisingly there was some broken glass in an otherwise pristine place. I mentioned this to Kent who was thankful and plans to take care of it. He was a gracious and informative host. And you should definitely check out the big sustainable island. Quite inspirational.
Little Cabin Island was such a treat! My pup Teddy and I spent a few days here celebrating our birthdays. The property and accommodations were exactly as described and Joanne and Kent were generous and thoughtful hosts leaving TONS of fire wood and fixing up the futon downstairs as Ted couldn't climb the stairs to the loft. I especially appreciated how clean the cabin was. Special attention was given to making sure cookware, plates, utensils, etc. were sanitized and the bedding was clean and comfortable. No small feat for a rustic cabin on a remote island! It was so fun to paddle around, cook (and eat!), nap, read in the hammock and even take a chilly April dip in Annabessacook Lake!
This cabin is perfect for those who want to take time to unwind and truly relax. There is no time frame here just sun up, sun down, and bird sounds in between. Even the rainy day was fun and beautiful. We picked up fresh seafood on our way up through Portland and cooked it all at the cabin leaving only once during our stay to canoe to 1BSI.
This is an incredible place to stay and truly a one of a kind experience. Kent and Joanne do an amazing job making you feel at home and making sure you have everything you need. They could not have been more accommodating and we are so appreciative. Our pup had the time of his life exploring the island off leash and swimming his heart out. We canoed over to the big island which we also had all to ourselves and it was beautiful. It was fun stripping life down to the basics, washing dishes with a water pump and showering outside and playing games by candlelight. I recommend this experience to anyone who wants to get away from the noise of everyday life :) we will be back!
Prepare yourself for an experience of a lifetime! We feel so lucky to have found this charming cozy cabin on its own private island! We surrounded ourselves in fall splendor for 3 days. The trees were on fire with color. We listened to the wind blow through the trees and the distant sounds of loons. They provide kayaks and a canoe which we took advantage of every day. A short canoe/kayak ride takes you to the closest island (owned by our hosts) covered in hiking trails snd more gorgeous scenery as well as more unique lodging options built by our hosts. The cabin was kept warm by a wood burning fireplace. Ample wood provided! I really cannot say enough good things about this place. Kent was the best AirBnb host we have ever had. So personable providing us with a complimentary pontoon boat ride to and from the dock. Thank you! 10 stars!
Wonderful, little piece of paradise! Jo and Kent are really friendly and passionate about their island. We loved everything about it- naps in hammocks, bird watching, board games, kayaking, and nights by the wood stove. We will definitely be returning and recommending it to friends and family!
Friendliest people u will meet! One of the best vacations I've ever had and if u have dogs bring them, they will also absouletly love it.
