We had an amazing time on little island!
Bring lots of lights, and body wipes to stay clean. Our favorite meal was foil packs we brought and cooked on the grill. We had the most stress free weekend in years. It was perfect. Thanks Jo and Kent.
Be prepared to relax and enjoy a beautiful peaceful island! We spent a day canoeing around and enjoying the great weather! We loved the beautiful sunsets and wildlife! We can’t wait to come back!!
Absolutely the best trip we’ve ever had. Spent our anniversary weekend here and it was perfect. The place was clean, cozy and private. Kent was extremely nice and informative.
Expect to put down your electronics and be fully present and unwind.
Expect the lapping of the waves and the loon calls to lull you to sleep.
Expect to breath deeply the clean cool air.
Expect to swim and kayak everyday.
Expect to feel totally refreshed at the end of your stay!
This place is truly a slice of heaven! We couldn’t of asked for better weather and we spent the entire day in the water swimming, taking out the kayaks and venturing over to the big island for some adventurous rope swinging. The cabin is fully equipped with most essential items (they make it clear what items you’ll need to bring) and offers spectacular sunrise/sunset views!
We had the most magical time on Little Cabin Island. So peaceful, tranquil, romantic. We loved spending afternoons in the hammock, kayaking to Big Island and jumping off the rope swing. We cooked delicious meals on the BBQ. We enjoyed stargazing at night. This was the perfect retreat for us. We were so comfortable here and can’t recommend enough.
Jo and Kent’s Little Cabin Island was the perfect combination of respite and adventure for us. My husband and I enjoyed the break from the hurry of life as we slowed down to experience the nature surrounding us — listening to the loons, watching the little birds flutter about the trees, drinking coffee on the porch while viewing the sunrise, and reading in the hammock.
We also loved being active on the lake — paddling the canoe and kayaks across the lake to fish and to visit the bigger island, 1BSI. We enjoyed walking the peaceful, shaded paths. And the rope swing was quite a rush. One morning I took a jog along the perimeter of the big island. The ground was so nice and soft for jogging (I just had to watch my step for the rocks and tree roots along the way). The fish were biting, and my husband landed a large mouth bass on the northwest side of the Little Island, which we cooked for lunch one day.
The cabin was stocked with the basic necessities for cooking; it was fun to plan and cook just enough of what we needed for the week. (Our meals were simple but hearty -- breakfast burritos, bacon wraps, chicken fajitas, loaded baked potatoes, hamburgers, etc.). It worked well to stop in Augusta on our way in for groceries. The only tricky part was figuring out how to keep our perishables cool as we only had a soft-sided cooler bag. However, Kent solved our problem by offering to bring us an extra cooler filled with frozen water bottles. Perfect! We ventured back to town one time during our stay, but really enjoyed sticking close to the island.
The cabin felt welcoming and clean. The bed was soft and comfortable. There was a window at the head of the bed, which was nice, in case we wanted to open it for a breeze at night. As the sun set in the evenings, our headlamps came in handy while we cooked (definitely recommend bringing headlamps!). We lit candles and played board games. It also worked well to set up a board game outside on the round table (we temporarily moved it in front of the porch) where we had more light as the day ended. What a relaxing way to unwind!
We highly recommend Jo and Kent’s Little Cabin Island!
Beautiful location to unwind and relax. Canoeing around the island was awesome. Also really enjoyed hiking the big island. Kent and Jo answered all our questions and made us feel comfortable about our remote stay. Be prepared to boil water and shower out of a bucket. Kent tells me an outdoor shower is in the works.
Joanne and Kent were wonderful and enthusiastic hosts. They were very responsive to our needs and provided everything that we needed. The cabin was super clean and private. We would love to go back again soon.
