This was my second stay at LCI, and it was just as wonderful as the first. I stayed 8 days and the time flew by! Jo and Kent were always available if I needed anything, and also went above and beyond to make my birthday special while I was on the island :) LCI is my Autumn home-away-from-home, and I am already looking forward to next year. I always leave feeling recharged, refocused and ready to face the real world again.

This place is what dreams are made of! Escape from the world yet still have service! What a balance! Jo and Kent were wonderful hosts so helpful and kind. We stayed on the island for 4 nights and our stress melted away in the first hammock session watching the sunset. We can’t wait to return!!!

We absolutely loved our time on Little Cabin Island. Jo and Kent were friendly, welcoming, and responsive hosts. Communication was great and made it easy to get there and get set up. They checked in just enough to see if we needed anything and we spent plenty of time just chatting with Jo on the big island when we canoed over to go for a run and meet the dogs that were staying there. By the time we left, we just felt like we'd been staying at a friend's place.

The location itself was absolutely amazing. We took advantage of pretty much everything- the grill and fire pit outdoors, the hammock, looking at stars on the dock, and the canoe and kayaks. One of us even went swimming, but the other one was too cold... And speaking of cold, the wood stove was perfect for our chilly mornings in mid-September.

The few indoor solar lights were just enough to prep a little food indoors after dark and use the compost toilet without needing a flashlight. The stairs/ladder up to the loft was no joke but very sturdy and safe. The cabin as a whole was very comfortable. There were enough basic kitchen items to get creative with the ridiculous amount of food we brought and the propane stove worked just fine.

Definitely check out the big island while you're there. There are multiple places to dock and the island is just big enough to go for a walk or run, though you'll probably make a few laps. The big island's accommodations all looked really cool, though I don't know if we'll be able to give up the privacy of the little cabin on our next visit! I would say though that the big island might be your pick if you're bringing dogs. It's a dog paradise.

We were apparently very lucky to book our stay right after a cancellation, so don't pass this one up if you get the chance!

Fell asleep to the call of the loon and the sound of water rippling onto the shore. We loved the privacy and the opportunity to allow our dog freedom to do as he pleased. Great to have access to a canoe and kayaks for exploring the lake and transportation back to the car for excursion into town for lobster rolls and ice cream. Glamping is fun, but this cozy cottage is so much better with a comfortable bed and all the amenities you need.

We stayed for 4 days (2 couples) on the small island , a wonderful tiny island on the lake. It is quite something to be on an island that you can walk around in less than two minutes when you come from Manhattan. The house is beautifully maintained. Jo and Kent care about their place, nature and their guests. I heard there are some new perks coming along :) . It is a place where you enjoy living off the grid. No power or such but you can bring a small solar panel like we did and there is pretty decent cell phone reception. We stayed with another couple because the house can accommodate two people on the futon in the main area. It was fine with us but because the bedroom and living area are arranged in some sort of loft configuration you will hear snoring :). Our friends were snoring like a lovely bunch of baby pigs but that did not come close to fade my awe every morning when I could see the sun rise through the door. It is a magical place. You can kayak around in the lake and visit the bigger island nearby as well. A great special Island with so many lovely birds to look at. We shall be back :)

Owner Response
Dear Arnaud and Co ~ This is the most entertaining review in recent memory. When we need a chuckle we read your review out loud. :-) Thank you so much for your gracious review. We look forward to seeing you all again. P.S. We have separate spaces on Big Island for the snorers and non-snorers :-D

One good indicator of the glorious vacation you will have at Little Cabin Island is the guest book Jo and Kent leave in the cabin. Every guest seems to have written a paean to the island and their adventures there, and many seem to be repeat visitors. We easily filled up a page describing the kayaking, canoeing, swimming, lounging, reading, campfires, and cooking we did over four days. It really is a special place. Jo and Kent are delightful too. Oh, and your dog will love you forever if you take them on this trip.

Second trip to the island. Loved it. Quiet, serene, relaxing and fun. Like summer camp for grownups.

This was our second trip back to this perfect little cabin on its own private island - meaning the first time was that good! We actually wondered why it took us so long to get back :) it’s everything that is listed in the description and shown in the photos, and so much more. Just a purely magic oasis that truly allows you to disconnect and focus on life’s little wonders - like one of our dogs finally gaining enough courage to come swimming, and then our inability to keep him out of the water after! If swimming and reading in a hammock over the water and canoeing or kayaking during the day, then grilling and having a campfire and stargazing and playing board games at night sound like your cup of tea, this place is for
You! Thanks again Jo & Kent for being such thoughtful and responsive hosts. We will see you soon!
