The little cabin island is truly an amazing place to escape to. The island is extremely peaceful and quiet while surrounded by a great lake.
It was my second time staying here, and I didn’t think it was possible to love a place as much as this. If you want a weekend full of relaxation and rapture, outdoor recreation, beautiful views, and the sounds of wildlife, than this cabin is the place for you. Jo and Kent provide unparalleled hospitality and even open up their own private island for your recreation, which are the little touches that make this place excellent. I would (and will!) come back to this place in a heartbeat.
The Little Island Cottage was a nice, peaceful getaway for us. Although it did not have electricity or running water, we found our stay to be comfortable and complete.
We appreciated the abundance of wildlife in the area: eagles, osprey, variety of small and large birds, a giant turtle, wild blueberries, lake breezes, trees rustling, waves slapping, and the Milky Way at night.
We enjoyed hammock time, a canoe ride, and a hike around their main island (1BSI).
Jo and Kent were lovely people and terrific guides/hosts. We highly recommend this unique experience.
My husband and I stayed here for our summer vacation end of July/early August. It was amazing. Magical. Peaceful. All of it. I was a little concerned about how we would make an entire week work on a tiny island (food-wise, temperament-wise, couple-wise), but 7 days wasn't nearly enough time. We got into the pace of puttering around with coffee and binoculars in the morning (we bought new binoculars before the trip and a bird book and will never look back) watching the nesting birds on the front porch, naps, feeling the breeze, reading, puzzling, yoga and dinner on the dock, sunset on the hammock on the west side of island, star gazing, lake baths, canoeing. (All of this from someone who does quite a bit of netflix and chilling.) We went to Augusta for lunch one day and while it was fun to check out new spots, we were itching to get back to cabin to just be. We did a lot of cooking on the propane cooktop and grill. Pancakes, lots of veggies that we brought from our garden and the store (sautéed and grilled), salmon, pesto pasta, quinoa bowls. I'm annoyingly picky about beds and the one in the sleeping loft was very comfortable - a plush pillow-top situation and on the softer side, which I like. Also slept on the futon in the living area one night, which is firmer, and also comfortable. We had great weather - mid to high 80s in day and 60s at night, one overnight rainstorm. Joanne and Kent were amazing hosts - very laid back, friendly, and available and we never felt stranded or lacking support if needed. Can't wait to return!
We had a fantastic stay! This place is most definitely what it sounds like-an isolated and beautiful little piece of the world that you get to have all to yourself for a time. There was so much bird watching (including spotting a bald eagle right outside our cabin window) to be done on this island, it was absolutely amazing!
Great hosts. A perfect little cabin on its own island surrounded by clean water and loon calls. Wake up with the sunrise. Dog heaven. 5 stars.
Me and my friends had the best experience on little cabin island. We had everything we needed to enjoy a nice relaxing stay spent our time fishing and kayaking. Joanne and Kent helped us with any questions we had and were great hosts. Will definitely come back.
This place is such a gift. We enjoyed every moment! Kent was really nice and communications were very smooth. Cabin is adorable with all the right anemities. We canoed and fished all around the lake, swam, and hung out on the sunny dock. The hammock on the back side of the island is placed perfectly for reading and relaxing in the late afternoon. Our dog Ladybird had a ball roaming around. Really a very special place to unplug - perfect getaway for couples! We will be back!
A fantastic spot to unwind and get away from it all!
You cannot go wrong with a stay at Jo and Kent's island home! This is the place to unwind, relax, disconnect and immerse yourself in nature. Our family enjoyed our long weekend stay "roughing it" on the island, adventuring around and spending time together. The dogs explored, spent the entire day outdoors and slept a solid day after their long weekend adventure. This home is a slice of heaven and we can't wait to go back!
