Our stay in Joanne and Kent's cabin on the little island last weekend was a very, very nice experience. We enjoy staying in places that are private and quiet, and this was certainly one of the top places we've stayed at! Trees and bushes surround the circumference of the island, so offers a lot of privacy. It appears that the island occasionally attracts curious boaters to come to, but once they see activity on the island, they boat away. We loved listening to the loons, geese and birds while having coffee or cocktails on the porch. We didn't miss the sounds of vehicles, air conditioners and barking dogs. The quiet was so much appreciated, and we had such a relaxing stay! Despite the few occasional raindrops, we loved our naps beside the lake in the hammock and sitting on the porch watching the birds. Joanne and Kent have a very nice and positive "energy," and we enjoyed our interactions with them as they provided our transportation to the island and back. They were the perfect hosts, and we hope we'll be able to stay on their island again.
Great spot away from it all. Joanne and Kent's cabin is the perfect place to unplug comfortably in a beautiful setting.
What a great experience! Jo and Kent couldn’t have been any more helpful and kind. They made us feel very welcome and encouraged us to reach out if we had a concern. We enjoyed the canoe, kayak, swimming, the hammock, and front porch swing and fishing off of the dock. We made many great memories in Kent and Jo’s little slice of Heaven. Highly recommend staying here
A unique cabin on a tiny island. It is a beautiful place to get lost in nature. The sounds of the loon's and birds were breathtaking. We spent 2 nights here with our kids 8 and 10. The place has canoes, kayaks and is great for swimming (bring water shoes!). It is really one-of-a-kind. The only regret is that we didn't stay longer.
Our stay at Jo and Kent was simply wonderful. Luxury camping. Camp fire under the stars. Great BBQ. Our hosts were efficient, warm and helpful. A magic little place.
Little Island is the perfect getaway. It was secluded, quiet — exactly what we were looking for. Joanne and Kent couldn't have been better hosts. Highly recommend reading on the hammock and a paddle across to Big Island to play on the rope swing!
This place is magical. I cannot recommend it enough. It's good for the soul!
Great secluded island retreat on a lake.
Perfect spot to chill out and relax, listen to the birds and explore the area by canoe. Definitely a retreat from reality!
I have traveled to many places before and stayed in many cabins (Smoky Mountains, Denver CO, Seattle, WA to name a few) and this cabin was by far the best I have ever stayed in. The cleanliness of the cabin, excellent hospitality from Joanne and Kent, peacefulness of the surrounding area, and awesome amenities (gas grill, kayak, canoe, hammock, 1400 acre desolated lake) all made for an unforgettable experience. We were a group of four guys from all over the world (Puerto Rico, Texas, Ohio, Massachusetts) and two guys in our group had never stepped foot in a woods before. However, despite the cabin being off-the-grid, they loved the experience and said they would definitely come back. Little Island Cabin allows you to get away from the daily hassles of life and embrace the serenity of your surroundings while at the same time not make life miserable. Joanne (never met Kent) was exceptional. She demonstrated competent communication and always made sure that we were enjoying our time. Also, during our boat ride to the cabin, she told us informative and interesting stories on the history of the area. Oh, and we all loved shadow, their dog. If you're lucky, you may get to meet him! This past weekend was one of the best I have ever had, and I not only enjoyed the cabin and the lake, but also learned that a life of sustainability is not necessarily synonymous with "inconvenient." I highly, emphasis on highly, recommend booking this cabin.
These hosts are lovely folks with a cute and unique home on an island of its own.
Jo and Kent are attentive and excellent communicators. They are wonderful to deal with as well.
The house and site are very pretty. Come prepared for upscale camping, if you will.
I highly recommend that you book a stay if you can.
