This place is one of the best places I've ever stayed.
Kent was a fantastic host - the cabin was spotless when we arrived and everything was thoughtfully prepared for us (including towels, potable water, and firewood).
There is a canoe and a kayak for adventures over to One Big Sustainable Island. Over there we found a rope swing, had a picnic on the dock after a swim, and checked out Kent's newest project - the Octagon Yurt (which is built around a real living tree). You can stay there too! Also, take the time to sit and read the guest book in the cabin...worth the read!

Honestly one of the best weekends of my life. If you're even thinking about staying here, just do it. You wont regret it!!
This little log cabin was perfect for a quiet weekend away. Such a pretty unspoiled place, made perfect by the wildlife sightings and calls at night. The bed upstairs was comfortable, so we slept well each night. Being able to allow our dog off-leash was nice for him, too. We didn't think he'd ever venture into the water (because he's a big chicken) but he was running and splashing and retrieving his ball by the end of our trip. One tip is to remember a cooler with ice. Don't know what I was thinking, but we didn't bring one for our food. Thankfully, Jo provided one for us. Much appreciated.
If you're looking to relax, reset and unwind from the everyday then little cabin island is the perfect choice. We spent the most relaxing weekend canoeing, breathing the crisp air and gazing at the stars at night next to a campfire. This is the very best of nature without sacrificing all comforts. Kent was a spectacular host. He checked in via text to ensure we were enjoying our stay. The cabin is well appointed. The wood burning stove heats the cabin so well and Kent makes sure you're stocked with plenty of wood.

Even though this place is a total escape there's plenty to do. Big sustainable island was so fun to explore and you can spend hours on the lake in a canoe or kayak. We can't wait to return this summer to take more advantage of the property.

Thank you Kent and Jo for sharing your magical islands with us!
Our stay on Little Cabin Island was exactly what we were looking for, a quiet, off the grid getaway. We especially enjoyed paddling and exploring the lake and 1 Big Sustainable Island, it's a short paddle away and definitely worth a visit. Our dog Phoenix had a great stay in the island and got some god swims in too. Jo was very welcoming and informative when we arrived; we plan to visit again in the future.
Jo was a fabulous host. She was so friendly and made sure everything was perfect. The little cabin was in great condition and we were very comfortable the whole time. The tiny trails cut out of the island really help you experience it in its entirety.

There's nothing like waking up with the sun and preparing food over an open fire, but still sleeping under a roof. We will be back to enjoy this little slice of heaven.
This is a pretty special spot. We were looking for a relaxing escape from the city on the water that we could bring our dog, and Little Cabin Island more than delivered. As others have noted, it is a bit rustic (no electricity), but that certainly doesn't mean it's not comfortable. The little cabin is clean and well appointed. Our favorite spot was the swinging chair on the front porch that you could watch the sunrise from. For cooking options, there's a propane coleman stove for inside, a propane grill for outside, and a grill you can swing over your campfire (they provide the firewood and propane) to cook on as well. You bring your own cooler for any food or drinks that need to stay cold, but that's about it. There's a great canoe and a kayak available for wandering the lake, and you can head over to the Big Island for hiking, etc. And of course, it's definitely worth saying that this was dog heaven! Letting him roam our little island without needing to stay on leash and without worrying about any neighbors was a treat for him and us. Jo was very easy to communicate with and extremely friendly and helpful. She met us at the dock, brought us over, and picked us up, and was willing to work with us on our changes to the arrival and departure times. I hope we can go back soon!
Where do we begin?! Lake Annabessacook/1BSI/Little Cabin Island are nothing short of pure bliss! My wife, Sarah, and I were extremely fortunate to come across Jo and Kent and their two beautiful islands! Jo and Kent were MORE than accommodating as they hosted us for our wedding and romantic honeymoon weekend. After our beautiful ceremony under the gazebo, and a fun photoshoot along the sunny south shore, sunset rock and through the enchanting trails throughout 1BSI Jo and Kent ferried us and our two dogs across the lake to Little Cabin Island. Jo and Kent have thought of every detail! From the hammock hanging over the water to the rustic and cozy furnishings to the canoe and kayak at your disposal, they have truly created a little piece of heaven. It was a perfect place for us to unplug and unwind as we connected as newlyweds. We enjoyed canoeing along the shore and seeing the wonderful homes and camps on the water, watching the sunset and the moon rise, the bald eagle and ospreys soaring through the air and listening to the loons. Sarah, our dogs, Malchus and Kinsley, and I can't wait to go back!!!!
It was like we were in our own whimsical little world. Peaceful and relaxing. A great way to unplug from the world and reconnect with each other face to face. Would definitely be going back
What a wonderful quick trip we had to Little Cabin Island! The home was just as described, off the grid and rustic but very comfortable and provided all necessary amenities. We had a great time kayaking, relaxing in the hammock, and enjoying the beautiful crisp fall air. We even got to christen the new wood stove, so grateful that Jo and Kent decided to get the stove just before our trip, it made for a wonderfully cozy couple of nights. Not to mention our puppy Boomer had the greatest time swimming and dragging sticks all around the island - overall a great anniversary weekend, thanks Jo & Kent!
It's a neat, clean, cute, little cabin on a tiny little island in the middle of what seemed like our own private lake! It was just what were were looking for and better than we imagined from the pictures. All we had to bring was a cooler full of food and our clothes. Jo and Kent thought of everything else and were the best hosts. Glen and I had the most romantic winter getaway. We did skiing, sledding, snow shoeing, and tooled around on our snowmobiles. Glen is a big ice fisherman and there was plenty of that. It was so nice that the wood stove was roaring away as we walked through the front door. The house is rustic, natural, and wonderful. It has a retro kitchen that is fully equipped, a very comfortable queen size bed in the sleeping loft. The sunrises and sunsets are magnificent. We had 360 degrees of lake view. Glen and I are looking forward to when the leaves are out and we can come back by boat! See you soon, Jo and Kent! Jan
