This island! Such a gem. Couldn't have been happier with our stay. We saw 4 bald eagles on the island, caught some fish and went swimming multiple times a day. Truly the way life should be. Thanks Joanne for being so helpful and accommodating. Feel very lucky to have found this place.

This place is magical! My husband and I loved being able to retreat into a gorgeous natural surrounding with our dog in tow. The cabin is charming and comfortable, and the lake is peaceful and serene. Jo was so great about communicating with us before and during the trip, and it was everything we expected and more! The first night we arrived, there was some rain, and we saw a rainbow at the end of the dock. I could make postcards from the pictures we took! Later that evening, we were able to catch the Perseid meteor shower and see a ton of shooting stars. We took the canoe and kayak out to 1 Big Sustainable Island, which was also amazing. We were able to enjoy the rope swing and do some hiking around the big island. We had such a great time! It was definitely the highlight of our summer.

My boyfriend and I spent 3 nights on the Little Island, and once we arrived, we immediately wished that we had booked a whole week.

The cabin was spotlessly clean and well decorated, and we appreciated all the little touches (fresh flowers, a clean fluffy bathmat, extra candles). The island was beautiful (even better than the pictures, if you can believe it) and we were completely blissed out laying in the hammock, watching eagles fly by.

Jo and Kent were warm and gracious hosts and we considered ourselves lucky to have met them. I loved talking to them about the history of the islands, and their future plans for their non-profit and the "Oaktagon". Because we were unable to make it out to the Big Island by canoe due to the weather, Jo was kind enough to take us out there by pontoon boat at the end of our trip.

To sum up in one word our experience on the Little Island---"magical". Thank you Jo and Kent!

What a hidden gem!! The island was beautiful and well kept - Kent and Jo were so knowledgeable about the area, it was a pleasure hearing about the history of the lake and the island. They have really created a special place, and I am grateful they are sharing it with the world. I left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, and my pup had a great time as well! The cabin has everything you need, and the hammock is a great place to watch the sunset.

Thank you Kent and Jo!!

Joanne and Kent were welcoming and very helpful. The island was magical, a truly special spot. There were bald eagles on the island, really close so you could see them. The kayaking was beautiful and the whole thing was rustic, ideal and easy. They are visionaries with their sustainable island.

Very beautiful, peaceful setting. Kent was a lovely host, and Jo was helpful in communicating prior to our arrival. The cabin has most of what you'll need (flashlights, candles, towels, kitchenware, extra blankets, cards/games, bug repellent, and even a dog bowl) so pack lightly. We really enjoyed swimming in the warm shallow waters around the island, canoeing over to the big island and fishing off the dock. The fire pit is great, too. Saw loads of loons, two bald eagles, herons, Orioles and a hummingbird. Needless to say, our two water loving dogs thought this was heaven on earth! We are already thinking of coming back!

Kent said you all looked "blissed out" when he picked you up! I think the dogs were smiling too! Thank you for your kind words ~~

Jo communicated with me right up until I met her in the parking lot for the boat ride over to the island. She made sure that I had everything that I needed and gave me all the tips for living on the island for four days.

The cabin was even nicer than it was in the pictures. It was very clean and smelled just like the cottage of my grandmother's that I grew up visiting. I loved the simple decor.

I enjoyed the hammock and kayaking and refreshing dips in the lake. I hiked over on 1 Big Sustainable Island. That was beautiful too. I had a camp fire most nights and I fell asleep (in an amazingly comfortable bed) listening to the loons echoing calls and feeling the cool wind on my face.

The lake was serene and just the peaceful break I needed.

Thanks Jo and Kent!

We had a great time at the "little cabin island", this was the perfect getaway! We hiked, canoed and relaxed by the fire pit. The scenery was stunning. Joanne and Kent made us feel very welcome and we cannot wait to go back.
